A Few Fall Fashions From Forgotten Files…

My calendar says yesterday was the “First Day of Autumn.” Hmmmm…at 75 degrees outside, it’s a little warm to be considered a Fall day but I know they are coming. I love 75 degree weather! Hope it’s this nice where you are!
I got to thinking about Fall Fashions and decided I’d pick out a few outfits that my girls have modeled in the past that definitely say “Fall!” My photography skills were pretty pathetic on some of these shots…some of them were buried deep in the archives! Hope you can overlook that and still enjoy them…

    1. Rita,
How did I know you’d pick your Nyssa sweetie?
HEY, everyone, Rita “LOANED” me this (her) Nyssa doll, so I could start making clothes
for her before I ever even knew if I’d get a Nyssa doll. One of the sweetest things I’ve
      ever been loaned!
      Thanks again Miss Rita,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Reminds me off starting a new school year with new outfits to wear. The weather was still warm through the day but you wanted to wear those new clothes that were for a new season! I like bitty Bethany’s jumper, I always liked jumpers, so comfy!

  2. Even though your early backgrounds are adorable, the white backgrounds really set off your beautiful outfits. My favorite is Rebecca in her fall dress. Have a great day, Jeanne!

    1. Cindy,
Rebecca’s dress was one of my favorites too! It was a special order, if I remember correctly, and the lady just told me to make a brown print Civil War dress. This is what I came up with and thought Rebecca was totally suited for brown prints!
I like the simple backgrounds too! I sold all my American Girl Scenes and Settings books.
They were a novelty and fun to show people, but too busy for most photos.

  3. It is very hard to pick a favorite because each outfit is so appropriate to the era of the doll. I got it down to three and then could not pick between them.
I am learning so much from you about styling and design. Using the American Girl dolls as an example of keeping the design right on target for the era of that doll. The fabric you have chosen along with the embellishments {another lesson I remember from your blog} makes the garment true to story line for that doll.
For me I am learning a great deal from your posts. This is the next best thing to attending a seminar on design and construction of doll dressing.
Thank you for sharing your education and knowledge with us!!

    1. Wow, Jeannie,
Thank you for all your comments! It makes me feel like I “AM” maybe contributing to the dolly world. That’s what I wanted. I’m so glad you are learning something from me. I hope I don’t run out of things to talk about…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Jeanne, I’m in love with the outfit that Bitty Bethany is wearing. Love the colors and the way you’ve matched the trim on the jumper to the design on the knit fabric, and I notice that way back in 2010 your dolls were already liking bears!

    1. Good morning Jevne,
Bitty Bethany’s jumper was one of my favorites too. I found a new baby onesie and had just the perfect green linen and so it was just meant to be together. I hand cut tiny little felt pieces to mimic the print in the knit top. It was fun but very tedious!
Yes, I’ve always had a soft spot for bears for my girls. One of these days, I’m going to have to show that toybox of mine… you can’t imagine how many bears I have…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Kathie,
Well, it seems that Bitty Bethany is getting the most votes for her green felt flowers jumper.
I’d give her a prize, but I’ve sold her and she’s not living here anymore!
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings,
      Jeanne
