A dresser, a reminder, a compliment and a doll dress…

~~ I wrote a post day before yesterday about painting a dresser free hand and staining one for Rebecca…Here is that post if you missed it.
When I posted my pictures I couldn’t find the “after” pictures of Rebecca’s dresser. Well, I finally found them. Someone wanted to see her finished dresser. So here is the before and after of hers…
I think someone had turned the handles the wrong way, because when I put them on “this” way, they were much more comfortable to pull open.

~~ Just a reminder that my American Girl “Civil War Charm” dress ends this evening on Ebay. You can go straight to the auction by clicking on the current auction picture at the right side bar. Hope to see you at the end!

~~ Everyone should be so blessed to have a brother-in-law like the one I have!! He made the nicest comments on yesterday’s blog post! Thank you very much Tom!

~~ Okay, now to something dolly related:
I managed to get a new dress for Ellowyne listed on Ebay and wanted to show you if you haven’t seen it already. It’s been quite a while since I sewed for Ellowyne and I can’t really tell you why. She is a gem to pose and has a wonderfully slim body that anything looks good on. Part of it is, I’m so drawn to “child-like” dolls and Ellowyne is a 19 year old Fashionista! I have to think a little bit harder when it comes to her. I’m not too hip on modern, young girl designs, but, as you can see a Regency dress doesn’t require too much thinking on my part, so that’s what we went with … and she looks pretty stunning in that blue dress! Hope you enjoy seeing a few pictures of her…

If you click on any picture, it will enlarge.

  1. Goodness gracious, Jeanne! You did a wonderful job with that dresser! Yes, I too, wondered abut those oddly shaped drawer pulls, and do think they were put on upside down, like you said. They look much nicer, and give the dresser a distinctive look with the way you have them. Rebecca is one lucky girl!

Oh, that dress! The whole outfit and the way you have her hair fixed, and have her posed—-just darling! How do you stay sane and make such teensy little clothes? That is my biggest hang-up with doll clothes!

    1. HI Linda,
My sister sent me a picture of the EXACT same dresser done by a famous blogger, Rachel Halverson. I saw a picture of it and it truly was the same dresser, same hardware and all. I’ve searched for the picture but can’t find it. If it was good enough for Rachel to like, hey, I’m LOVIN’ it!
I don’t mind sewing the smaller sizes… I just have a hard time coming up with ideas for Ellowyne. Thanks for the kind words.

  2. I have several antique pieces of solid walnut furniture that I refinished when I was younger, so I know how much work it is. Beautiful job on that dresser.
Your Ellowyne dress is beautiful, I love the color. Such a welcome change from the colors I see girls wearing now, mostly black, even black bridesmaid dresses.

    1. Thank you Jevne,
I was so pleased at how it turned out and to think it was free! We had to buy some stain but that was all. Pretty good for as nice as it looks, huh?
~ Right there with you about the black that girls wear nowadays. Give me color any day of the week!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh wow!
That dresser is gorgeous!!! And so is the dress for Ellowyne. Not the handles LOOK better that way also.

    1. HI C,
That was my first time doing anything like that and I really enjoyed it… Thanks so much for your compliments…on the dresser and the dress.
      Blessings, Jeanne
