My goodness…I’ve decorated a lot of Straw Hats!!!

I hope you don’t mind if I continue with the straw hat slideshow. As I said yesterday, I am getting ready to go out of town to see my brother and I needed to post something ahead of time so I could get some things done before I leave. If you missed yesterday’s post, you can see it HERE and view the hats there. Here are some more for your “viewing pleasure…”

I hope you got a fortune for Addy’s aqua and tan dress.
I also love the first picture from yesterday with Elizabeth in red and white. I must say I really like the sleeves on the ivory white colonial dress today.
You must enjoy looking through your photos. The outfits are beautiful and so are the photos.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I just looked Addy’s Aqua/Tan dress up and *sigh* unfortunately it only went for $57.99… well, unfortunately for me… but fortunately for the winner! It was made back in 2008, 8 years ago.
I’ve thought about making myself one of those books from Shutterfly where you can put pictures of anything in it you like… and it would be fun for me to have pics of all my dresses in one book…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I must say the hat in the 5th and 6th pictures is really a beautiful hat! I’m not sure who the doll is that is wearing it, but she is certainly perfect to model that hat!

I especially love Felicity’s hats too, all the ribbons and ruffles and flowers! And like Marilyn also says, that aqua and tan dress of Addy’s is just gorgeous!

    1. Morning Linda,
The doll wearing the 4th hat is Kirsten, in a really Springy yellow and pink dirndl… and the model in the 5th picture is Katie Effanbee…she’s a hard bodied 18″ doll. I always liked that hat too…
Elizabeth’s and Felicity’s hats are my favorites to decorate.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I love the hat you made for Felicity’s Colonial Charm ( I think that was her debut dress’s name). That dress was perfect to set off her hair and eyes. My favorite ensemble of all is also that aqua green and tan dress on Addy’ with her church fair background. That whole outfit is just stunning. I happen to be looking up at my renamed Caroline and Marie- Grace, my Civil War girls to be, and I think that it would look lovely on them as well. A very versatile dress. The pleated bottom flounce is perfect.

    1. HI Laura,
Well, it appears Addy’s aqua and tan dress is a big hit so far this morning. I may have to resurrect that pattern again and make her a new one… similar.
I like the picture of the hat in the Colonial Charm set too, Laura. Felicity does look very sweet in the greens… I wonder why??? :o) She’s a keeper this time.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. You have certainly decorated a lot of straw hats, Jeanne, and done them all very well. I don’t remember names of your dolls but my favorite is 7th one down from the top; I love the bright gold with the navy blue and the sunflowers on the hat are the perfect touch. Is the collar on the dress ultrasuede? My second favorite is the same doll with the navy dress trimmed in yellow. She is so pretty no matter what color you put on her, i.e. the next photo down, pale turquoise print trimmed in tan. Guess she’s my favorite of your AG’s. What is her name?

    1. HI Jevne,
The ones you liked are all on Addy…the American Girl doll representing the Civil War era… She does look pretty sweet in those photo’s doesn’t she? The gold dress is actually accented with black featherwale corduroy…very soft and dainty like.
You are the 4th person to like the dress trimmed in tan. I guess it was a hit today…not so much back in 2008, when it was made and sold.
      Thanks Jevne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

        1. Well, Jevne,
There certainly seems to be lots of interest in that style, so maybe I will…
          Blessings, Jeanne

  5. In the first set, there’s a pretty fashion doll wearing coral or pink, and a hat with a band that matches the dress. The hat is quite simple, but very becoming. And I have to agree with Laura that Colonial Charm is another winner.

    1. HI Marilyn,
The dress in the coral print is on Ellowyne, by Robert Tonner. She’s 16″ tall, quite slender and that was a new pattern for me. I loved how it turned out… the picture I chose for her hat shot was my favorite of all the pictures I took of that set.
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. All your hats are lovely. Each goes with the dress so well. I’m a fan of #1 ivory dress that Felicity is wearing and Addie’s navy and yellow #12. Although, Felicity’s green & yellow, last pic, is awfully cute. I also like the button detail on the dark blue Felicity dress with the chris cross string. I don’t think I’ve seen that detail prior.

    1. Thank you Joy,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing more straw hats on my girls. You’d think I would have run out of ideas by now, but they keep coming…
      Thanks for your thoughts Joy,
      blessings, Jeanne

  7. All of the Felicity hats are my favorites in both posts. I really like the turquoise Addy dress, the brooch at the neckline and the trim. Thanks for posting them all.

I discovered another tip yesterday while finishing the ties on a doll apron. Plain wooden chopsticks! After turning the ties, I inserted a chopstick at the seam line and held the material tight under the sleeve board while pressing the seam open over the chopstick. Saved my fingers from being “steamed” too. It’s fun to be sewing again, thanks to Jeanne and this Blog.

    1. HI Susette,
You’re right there with me on the Colonial and Civil War hats. They are very fun to decorated and I have to admit my favorites too! There might be a few more…so hang on…

I’ve done the same thing when pressing something narrow that has a seam in it. I’m so glad you are enjoying sewing again Susette. Keep it up!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I absolutely love all of the AMG outfits and hats since they are my favorite dolls. The styles of Addy’s outfits are really neat as well as the colors chosen.
Thank you for explaining the difference of the PC girls from the newer ones. I’ll have to keep that in mind to see the difference, like on Ebay. I do believe you had a post concerning the differences now that I think of it.

Enjoy the visit with your brother and mother. Hope your throat feels better.

    1. HI Paula,
I knew you’d like the AG doll hats the best… since I knew you love the AG dolls the best!!!
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the ones I’ve decorated over the years. I hope it wasn’t too repetitive seeing things you’ve already seen before. Sometimes when you look at something you don’t really notice the details… the color, the bodice, the neckline, or the hats, etc.

I may or may not have… just bought another AG doll… you’ll have to wait and see…
My sore throat has now turned into a cold… I probably shouldn’t go, but I’m hoping I’ll be better by 10:00 tomorrow morning… :o)

      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Addy’s aqua/tan is my favorite also. Keep going to bed early. You need your rest plus fluids as you fight a cold.

    1. Hi Jan,
Well, isn’t that funny? Everyone picking Addy’s dress as their favorite…
I will go to bed early tonight. I just talked to my brother and told him my sore throat had turned into a cold and did he prefer that I not come…and he said, “Oh, the boys are always bringing home something from school…don’t worry!”
      Thanks Jan,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Paula,
I just received an email from you about what doll I might be getting… you’ll see….
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. I was trying to send another email- I absolutely love seeing any of your outfits from the archives. It always amazes me as to how unique each one is.
    Hope your cold stays small-
And can’t wait to see what doll you might be getting!! (As I shop for dolls on eBay myself!)
