How to navigate through my blog…

I picked up 2 more new subscribers a few days ago and wanted to welcome them. Hello Sally and Jenn… I hope you’ll enjoy yourself here. I happen to have the BEST group of ladies you could ever hope to be around. We have lots of fun and lots of interaction.
(Thank you, Susette, for reminding me to show a post like this again…newbies generally appreciate it.)

I also updated my Gallery and My Dolls pictures! Unfortunately I didn’t get them all the same size, but that’s better than seeing the same old pictures! :o/

I probably should do this more often than I do, but I put together a post one time that tells how to navigate when reading my blog. Instead of giving you a link to that post, I decided to edit it and copy the relevant parts here, so you could see it without that extra click.

I started blogging on August 1st, 2014 and didn’t miss a single day for the first 2 years. Then I decided to take Sunday’s off… and try to post most every day but then.

I tried hard not to make this too “wordy!” I hope it helps!

I generally try to stick with dolly and sewing posts, but sometimes when my life gets busy I throw in a post about family, something going on in my life, a decorating project, a recipe, AND I love it when my readers send pictures I can use, etc. If you hang on, it always gets back to dolls and sewing.

You can read the daily blog posts 2 different ways…one, where it looks like this, which is my actual website page:

CIMG0952

or two, where it comes in your email and looks like this, with the title of the post in blue letters:

CIMG0947

If you choose to read it from your email, you can read it just like any other email, but some things on this page aren’t the same as they are on my actual website page. Here are some tips if you read it this way…

Down at the very bottom of the email version, there are the last 5 posts and any of them may be opened by clicking on them.

CIMG0950

Sometimes I refer to things on the “right side bar” but it’s at the bottom of the “email” version with the blue letters.

As I mentioned above, if you’d like to go to the actual website/blog post, click on the blue title… like this…

CIMG0948

and the page will change to this:

CIMG0952

Most people like the website version best. Plus you can see all the comments at the bottom or leave one yourself! :o)

HOW TO READ OTHER POSTS…or START AT THE BEGINNING…
If you’d like to see all of my posts or start at the beginning, you can click on the BLOG Tab just under my header.

CIMG0936

This will bring up ALL my posts, one stacked on top of the other. Yesterday’s post is below today’s post and day before yesterday’s post is below that one. See, here is the bottom of a post with the top of the previous day before it.

CIMG0953

If you want to start at the beginning of my blog posts, click on that BLOG tab and you’ll find there are 4 posts to a page so if you scroll down and down and down, you’ll eventually come to the bottom of that page where you’ll find some little numbers… and if you click on them you can go backwards to the beginning of my blog…(if you like!) I think I’m at 449 pages now…

CIMG0957

If you want to leave a comment about today’s post (or any other posts), you’ll find that at the bottom of each post. If you are the first person to leave a comment, it will say, “Leave a comment” but if others have already left some, it will look like this:

CIMG0955

Just click where it says (10 comments or whatever) and leave your comments, then click “Post comment.”

As I was putting this post together, I saw this next picture and realized my little icons for Pinterest, Etsy, flickr and Ebay were missing. They were normally below the pictures on the right side bar. I must have edited them at one time and took them off. I will work at getting them added back in. They allow you to go straight to those areas of mine.

CIMG0988

Reading either way, occasionally you might see the word “HERE” highlighted in blue… and if you click on that, it will take you to another
post I have written. If you do click on it, just hit the back button and it will return you to the blog.

CIMG0949

If you’ve ever seen this list of all these words at the right, those are called “tags.” You can click on those and it will bring up all the posts where the word you picked is mentioned. (ie) If you click on Ten Ping, any post where I’ve mentioned her, will come up.

CIMG0990

If you ever want to “search” for something on my blog…(Ten Ping, Civil War Dress, Addy, Pink dresses), just type your words in the green SEARCH box at the right side bar. It’s just below the pictures on the right.

I have also added the last 10 recent posts at the right side bar. You can click on any of them and that post will open up.

Now, back up to the header…if you want to “check me out” click on ABOUT ME…

CIMG0937

If you want to see pictures of all my dolls in one outfit that they chose… click GALLERY:

CIMG0938

If you want to see the dolls I have, click MY DOLLS…

CIMG0939

My daughter, Rebecca, makes necklaces for the American Girl dolls so I gave her a little area called “BECCA’S CORNER.” Click on it to see a sample of her work, and then there is a link to our Etsy shop as well…(but don’t get your hopes up…I’ve been very negligent in getting our shop filled back up with necklaces, fingerless gloves, pantalettes and an occasional doll dress. I’m hoping to do better soon.)

CIMG0940

If you need to get a hold of me to ask a question that you don’t necessarily want everyone to see in the “comments” section, use the “CONTACT ME” and send it to me through email.

CIMG0941

Okay, as I look back over this I think it looks like too much information, but I hope it helps. If you have any questions or think of something I have left out, please let me know…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

A good refresher course, Jeanne! I sometimes forget about some of those other parts of your blog!

I’m down in the Puyallup area, ready for Expo! We had our pre-Expo dinner, with about 35 there. It’s always fun to see old friends, and meet new ones.

My friend Tonya and her friends came over to my room for a little show and tell tonight (things we’ve made, primarily). I made two tops and that “twinsie” tote, so Tonya brought her tote over and we compared notes. We are already planning next year’s twinsie challenge!! We will shop for it on Friday. Not a tote this time, but not sure just what.

On the tote I had made, I added a buttoned strap on the inside to hold one of my insulated water bottle totes. And then I left my water bottle totes at home!!! So, before the dinner I went to Walmart and got some fabric and insul-brite, and am making one by hand! (I knew I should have brought my little machine with me….)

Time for me to hit the hay–no sleeping till 10 this week!! LOL

Dear Charlotte, oh you are having too much fun (chuckle)!

Charlotte Noelle wanted me to ask you if you took along one of her cousins (Little Darling) for company. I told her you probably didn’t because you need to concentrate but you know how she is when she makes up her mind about something (laugh).

        Hi Dorothy,

Tell, Charlotte Noelle that, no, I didn’t take one of her Little Darling cousins this time, but I did take Leneda, my newest doll from the Leeann family. They are a little slimmer-bodied, and slightly shorter (11″). The look a bit older than the LDs, however.

But tell Charlotte Noelle that in the past I have taken some of her LD cousins with me–Patty went one year, and I think Heather went last year. They get to stay in the motel room and play with the teddy bear I always bring, too!! And there are snacks…!!

Dear Jeanne, it is always helpful to have a “how-to” review.

I think that you go to an uber-long yard sale each year (or did I get that wrong?). I am wondering if you have plans to attend this Summer.

May is only 3 months away. Yeaaaa!

  3. Great getting play by play from Charlotte. Hope she is able to get some photos of the show too. Sounds like a place to be.
Sorry to hear of the drought in New Zealand from Jane. But, I guess with the worldwide weather changes, that is par for the course. Definitely not enjoyable though.
We now have our first case of Coronavirus in our county. One of the Princess passengers they flew back from Japan tested positive but shows no symptoms. Is in isolation at a local hospital. Hoping they can find a preventative cure very soon.
Looking forward to seeing the next outfit for a Little Darling. Will it be for St. Paddy’s Day? Easter? Spring? Guess we will find out soon. 🙂

  4. I appreciated your navigation tutorial. I usually can find my way around myself on most things but it always helps to know you haven’t missed anything.

I love reading Charlotte’s comments about her sewing adventures. It’s like being there along with her. Thanks Charlotte.

I saw on the news where a coronavirus case had been diagnosed in Northern California and was wondering if it was near Joy. They were saying on the news the other night that the virus should slow with the coming of spring as other ones do. We can only hope. That would allow for time to get ahead of it should it show up again. So far so good here.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the new outfit for Little Darlings. Claire and Fallon can’t wait to see it too. Beautiful day here again today. Starting tomorrow we have another warming trend with daytime temps in the 70s for at least the next week. It’s hard to stay inside when it’s like that but most of what I do is inside stuff. If I had a nice porch I would move my machine outside in weather like this, but sadly I don’t. Maybe I’ll open the windows and pretend.

  5. Good morning, Jeanne, and everyone! Thank you for the tutorial, and I did learn a few things! I actually did comment on the blog earlier, and then while putting my name and email address in the spaces, it suddenly all went away! And to think that I had told you how easy everything was to get to! How embarrassing for me! Oh well, I’m no tech person, so that’s the way it goes when you aren’t one of those!

Sounds like Charlotte is having fun! Yes, how about a picture or two, Charlotte?

    1. Charlotte Trayer

Thanks for the nice comments everyone!

I’ll be glad to send a few pictures to Jeanne after I get home. I mostly take pictures of the stuff I bought, to post to our “sew fun” group on Facebook, so can send those. Will try to get a picture of two with friends, also.

  6. Thanks for the updated info on your blog Jeanne! Maybe you could have a tab added just for it :0)
Glad you are getting new followers too..that has to be fun.
I almost hate to say it out loud but we may be getting Spring a bit early. March can be unpredictable but we have ROBINS in the yard. Snow birds on their way somewhere…and huge amounts of ducks or geese flying north…and just the tiniest amount of green showing in the grass. The sooner the better!
Charlotte Have fun at your convention!

  7. Hi Jeanne,
It’s always nice to get a reminder; thank you … I need all the help and reminders I can get when it comes to computer “stuff”. Congrats to Barbara on winning the pretty flocked slip, I’m sure her dolly will shine in it.
I can’t wait to see that you are creating for the little Darlings. Maybe an Easter outfit with a pretty slip??? ; )
    It’s almost Friday!
    hugs
    Ingrid
