Not quite “boutique” overalls, but a “sweet peek” for dolls!

I guess it REALLY DOES MATTER what you put in the title of your blog post! And I guess the words Boutique and Overalls and Shortalls might be just as relevant today as it was back in 2005! At least that’s what my “stats” say. The highest number of views I’ve ever had in a single day on my blog was 524…the one I did called “Just call me Joanna!” It beat out a post with my sister, Cindy, that got 518 views! But yesterday I had 816 hits on my post with the appliqued overalls. EIGHT HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN!!! I guess it had some “key” words in the title and I’m guessing they were “boutique” and “overalls!” Who knew??? So a BIG Thank You to all who looked at my post. :o) Sorry, but I had to take a picture of it. (It was at 808 when I took the picture.) It’s been rather slow around here, so when I saw this, I thought it was a mistake… and had to come look at it on my desktop… It’s so far up there… thank you again…

A few ladies commented that it would be fun to see something like what I did for the little girls for my dolls. I’ve been thinking about it and just might have to give it a try. I’ve had LOTS of practice!!! :o)

I don’t have anything like that to show you today, but I do have a few things that might be considered similar… I hope you’ll enjoy this slide show of some denim and overall designs from the past “for my girls”… Thank you all for your kindness to me!

First up is Millie. She’s was the skinniest little girl from Kaye Wiggs. I think she was 11” tall and she only stayed with me for a short time. She had this worried look on her face…it was her eyebrows and I just never bonded with her. I called this little pair of shortalls “Frog in my Pocket.” I designed the overalls and still have this pattern… maybe I can adapt it to fit one of my girls… :o)
I was selling her overalls on The Resin Café and ladies liked to see the name of the seller and the date to prove that you actually had it for sale… hence the note…

I did make a pair of denim overalls for Kit one time and called this set “Farmer’s Market.” It was darling on Kit! She even had a bucket of veggies!

Another set I did for Kit was called “In the Wild” and though it’s not overalls, it has jeans! :o)

This next one might not count as overalls, but it sort of worked for me, how about you? Isabelle is modeling “Doggone Cute” here…I made it back in 2013. The doggie was a sweet little applique that I ironed and sewed on the front… it wasn’t a free hand one like the ones I did yesterday.

I found some overalls for my Katie Effanbee doll, but they were corduroy prints, so I’ll save them for another time…. like Fall! :o)

Well, I hope that was enough to give you your first smile on this Saturday!

Don’t forget the auction on Ebay for Kirsten’s dirndl… Sunday evening. I haven’t told her she’ll have to give it up… Anyone have any ideas how to tell “the new girl?” You can see the listing by clicking the picture a the top right side bar or by clicking HERE.

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow! Congrats on the huge number of views you had yesterday!! That is quite an achievement, and something to set as your goal for another day, too!

All of those outfits are so cute! I’m wondering if Millie’s outfit might fit either the Ten Ping-sized dolls (Gigi–my Ten Ping “friend”–says to remind you she loves pink!) or the smaller Boneka dolls? I know that it also depends on body circumference as well as height. Just a thought….

I’ve always thought overalls look so cute–on other people!! On me? Not so much….Plus, as we get older, they’re rather…er….um….Inconvenient…..

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
It was a nice ending to my day!! I dont know what will beat 800 hits but I guess I can try!!

I might have to dig out Millie’s pattern and do a rough mock up and see how close the fit is for Ten Ping and Gigi or even Noel…

I found myself looking through overalls patterns this morning… :o)

      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Congratulations on the 800+! Wow! All of the overalls are darling, but where in the world did you find the darling little frog? I love the Millie doll. I don’t think I’ve seen her before? It’s hard to believe you’ve done so many various versions of clothing for so many kinds of dolls. Amazing! Thanks for finding the pictures and sharing them.

    1. Hi Susette,
      Thank you!
I found the little frog at a mom and pop toy store that used to be in our mall. He was a sweet little thing!!
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing Millie…glad she was something new for you too!!
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. It’s great to see more outstandingly made outfits by you, Jeanne. You do such fine work.

In regards to telling Kirsten, how about letting her know that if she gives up this outfit, there will be more coming in the future? It’s a win win for all!

    Blessings.

    1. Hi Becky,
Good idea on how to tell Kirsten she has to give up her dress set…I’ll give that a try.

Thank you for the compliments on my work, Becky! I try hard and I’m glad it shows.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. What a cute display of play outfits, Jeanne! Yesterday’s title sure hit the jackpot in telling you what people are looking for nowadays! I like to make my dolls dress like real children, and what are they wearing most of the time? Cute play outfits! I absolutely love Isabelle’s outfit! Wish I could find more like that for my Betsy McCall. She is actually wearing an outfit something like that, but yours is way cuter, with the darling puppy appliqué! It cute, yet feminine and the perfect thing for a little girl on the playground!
Like the others, I think you should make a few rompers, and play sets for the dolls!

My knee is staying cool………inside in the air conditioning!

    1. Hi Linda,
Glad you are staying cool…its a hot one out there today, isn’t it? The heat index is 102 right now!!
Thanks for you kind words about my doll outfits…I think I can squeeze in a few play outfits for some girls. Thanks for the encouragement!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Congrats on yesterday’s views! You just never know.
I’m also a fan of Isabelle’s outfit. Even without a doggy applique it would be a perfect summer/early fall outfit. I really like it with the knee length double stitched pants too.
If you might be able to make Camp Meadow patches to put on tees or shirts like Kits, I would love that. You might sell shirts or just the patches. They could fit the Meadow Dumplings, Twinkles, or 16″ Mae. Wish I knew how to do something like that on my machine.
Glad to hear Linda’s knee is healing. Keep cool anyone in a hot zone. Hope your weekend is wonderful.
Chimney Swifts are raising a ruckus again. Must be breakfast time. 🙂

    1. Hi Joy,
Yesterdays views certainly made my day!!! Thanks for being one of them!! :o)

It seems like play clothes might be on the schedule for a little while. I’ll see what I can figure out about the Camp Meadow tee shirts.

Hope your Chimney Swifts are flying away soon…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. What an amazing number of hits you had yesterday!!! Those that “tuned in” were richly rewarded. I’m a big fan of sports clothes/play clothes for dolls. My kiddoes love dressing up but it only lasts for so long then they start complaining that they want to get comfortable. I’ve only found the overall closures for 18″ dolls and have made Gracie some jumpers using them. Wish I could find them for the smaller dolls. I love Joy’s idea of “Camp Meadow” patches. Sorry about her annoying Chimney Swifts. I don’t have a chimney, so I don’t have to worry about that, but we did have a Blue Jay protecting her nest in our yard for a few years. She dive-bombed anyone heading for David’s shop. Really scared the grandkids a few times. It ended when we had to cut the tree down after years of drought.

Glad Linda’s knee is doing well. Hope everyone is surviving the heat. It looks like a lot of us on the blog are on the way to some more pleasant weather – for awhile at least.

    1. Hi Barbara,
It’s definitely on the warm side here today… the heat index is 102 and you just get drenched walking outside!!
I’m glad to hear the responses on the play clothes…I guess maybe I’ll make a few sets of play clothes for some of the dolls!!
      Thank you so much Barbara
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, congratulations on exceeding your number of viewers! That is exciting. I think we are going to need another sofa and some more tea cups to make room (chuckle).

I love Isabelle’s outfit. I agree with Joy, even without the dog theme, it would be cute.

I think you can distract Kirsten with the promise of ice cream. She will have to take off the outfit so it doesn’t get any drips on it. She can wear a play outfit to the ice cream parlor. If she asks about the dress you can just say “hmmmm, I wonder where that got to.”

I used to do something like that with my daughter when she was little. If anyone gave her a gift that made noise, it would disappear. She would always play with the toy non-stop and the noise would make me crazy. Soooo, a little elf would spirit the toy away.

She never figured out what was happening. Now we laugh about it.

    1. Hi Dorothy,
I should have known you’d think of needing a bigger couch!!!… and more tea cups! :o)

Good suggestion on using ice cream for a diversion with Kirsten…speaking of ice cream, we could certainly use some here. The heat index is 102 and climbing!! Maybe a root beer float..oh man, that sounds good!!

I saw a friend in the Goodwill yesterday… her niece had found this little toy guitar that made a twanging tune when you pushed a button. I was thinking to myself…that would last about one day at my house!! Guess we think alike Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. WOW…that is an amazing number of visits to your Blog! Hopefully they will visit everyday.
Love the overalls with the Doggy…and actually all the different styles and sizes. I can’t imagine they wouldn’t sell big time.
with a matching t shirt and tennis shoes? I saw tennis shoes for 18″ dolls at Hobby Lobby yesterday.
Packing dolls and snacks for the convention today…clothes tomorrow.
    Have a good weekend

    1. Hi Kathie,
It truly was an amazing day in my stats… I never would have believed it if I hadn’t seen it.

Everyone seems to have gotten me excited to make some fun play clothes…thanks for your encouragement too..
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Those boutique overalls sure were cute yesterday. Yesterday was crazy bust for me, so I didn’t even see your post until about 9 PM. Congratulations on all the views!!
All the dolls today look sweet in their outfits. I especially like Kit’s “Farmer’s Market” and “in the Wild”. The chipmunk patch is adorable. i love chipmunks!
Isabelle’s doggie outfit is precious.k patch is adorable.
I definitely think you should make a similar outfit for some AG today. Perhaps Kit? Something along the Farmer’s market since summer fruits and veggies are in full swing. A beach set for Samantha/ Nellie.
Poor new Kirsten, she doesn’t know the drill yet. Maybe you could placate her with ice cream as Dorothy from PA suggested. And then “oh, dear, where did that dress go?’ Don’t worry, honey, you’ll get another in the near future.

    1. Hi Laura,
I’m late getting these last 2 comments but wanted to thank you for yours. I appreciate your kind words and think ice cream just might be the key. :o) she’ll never know what happened when she trades a bowl for the dress!
Rebecca was helping me look at different rompers and overalls today…I think there may be some in the future! :o)
      Thank you Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne
