Sorry…another random post…

This post is going to have to be another “random” post…. I hope you don’t mind. It’s 10:30, Monday night and I’m just now sitting down to my computer… my day has been FULL! I’m sorry I didn’t get your comments answered, but I have to get to bed soon as I have another full day tomorrow… baking cookies this time and deciding what my main meat dish will be for the Married Couples party Thursday evening. Let me get through Thursday and I’ll be back to myself again… :o)

I made 6 batches of my Chocolate Mint Cookie Bark this evening and for the first time EVER… I might be sick of it. I nibbled on the little pieces that broke off the larger ones and I’m sick of sweets.

Here is a peek at one of my tubs of the cookie bark… I have 2 1/2 tubs full… plenty to put in some favor bags…

I’ve wondered all day if anyone found a little couch at your Ross’s store today? Rebecca said it was the only one at our store but she’d keep her eyes open for more. I know Ross’s doesn’t get certain stuff in, but sometimes random shipments.

I never got a chance to ask Cindy what she put under Hannah’s hair to make it stand up, but I’ll find out. I did hear that the TP held her hairdo in place and she was able to wear it to school today. If you missed it, here was Hannah’s hair for her play.

A few days ago Linda asked about my Angel tree topper. I received her from a very dear Dr. friend who delivered Kristoffer and Rebecca 28 and 31 years ago. The angel is made from delicate white cotton fabric and is stuffed in her body and has stiff curls for her hair from ribbon. Linda asked how she was held up on the tree. She has ribbons on her side that can be tied around the top of the tallest tree branch. This isn’t the greatest picture, but I used my flash so you could see what I mean about the ties…

I treat her very carefully and pack her away in her own box after each Christmas.

And in WONDERFUL news… my Glimmer of Gold 2nd set arrived this afternoon at the buyers house… finally! I mailed it Priority mail and it took 6 days to get to the buyers house…but at least it made it safely this time… (Now, I guess we’ll just wait and see if that first one ever shows up! After reading some of your stories I look for it to arrive sometime next year!) :o)

Cindy, my sister, made this beautiful wreath for me out of music sheets and I had it in my sewing room… I “finally” added that center button it needed and hung it over by my Christmas tree… moving Kristoffer’s hummingbird picture to my sewing room.

Here’s one more picture of it…

I plan on showing you more of my Christmas decorating, but right now I have boxes all over my table with favors and papers and game stuff everywhere.

AND… Cindy sent me lots of pictures of her house decorated for Christmas… you WON’T want to miss that so stay tuned.

But this will have to be it for me today… see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Another fun post, Jeanne! If I was the one writing a blog, I think I would be taking off the entire month of December! I can’t believe how you manage to find time to do the blog everyday, not to mention all the other things you manage to squeeze in in one day! We certainly do appreciate it!
I have all the “fixins” for the Chocolate Mint Cookie Bark, but am waiting another week or so to make it. If I do my baking now, we would not have enough for Christmas!;-)

Oh thank you for showing that beautiful angel close up. I see now how it is attached to the tree, so thank you for showing that! She looks so ethereal with the light showing through her dress! Maybe at one time she was a pretty hankie?

Yay, for the Glimmer of Gold making it to it’s rightful place! I thought Priority Mail was a lot faster than 6 days! We just sent a package Priority Mail and it should get to it’s destination in 3 days, and it had better, because it was quite pricey!

I love the beautiful wreath Cindy made! It’s one of a kind, and looks just stunning on your wall. Your Christmas tree setup is so homey and warm looking! I think if you leave some of that Cookie Bark out for for Santa , he might just sit and stay awhile, because he will feel like he is home!

    1. HI Linda,
I had to turn down someone today who was wanting some alterations done. I felt bad, but I just couldn’t take on another thing.

My angel may have been made from a fancy hankie… I’m glad you asked about her…it was nice for her to be noticed.

I do hope your package makes it to its destination in time. I sure was relieved mine finally got there.

As soon as I get “all this stuff” off my table, I’ll finish showing my Christmas decorating…

Then I’ll leave everyone with Cindys!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. The button you chose is perfect for the wreath and the tree is perfect for your house. The tie for the angel makes sense — I was wondering how she stayed securely and that way is so sensible.

I was one of the ones who asked to be kept up on the Glimmer of Gold outfit — that you for news of it’s successful arrival. I hope the other package is found and returns to you. If it was stolen, it would be too bad — a dress that size is pretty specialized.

I sent my sister and brother-in-law some Harry and David pears. They didn’t show up and didn’t show up and Linda and Larry made several trips to the Post Office to check. Finally one clerk said, “Oh, yes, that package has been here for days.” They took them to the H&D store for a replacement. The clerk there said she’d never seen pears that looked that sad. If Glimmer I shows up, at least it won’t have spoiled.

I will say that I have sent and received hundreds of packages through the mail and very few have been lost.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I can’t believe it took me so long to get that button on my wreath…shame on me. It was a one of a kind button that worked perfectly with the colors of the sheet music!

After hearing about all your “lost and found” stories, I’m halfway expecting the second outfit to arrive….a year from now. :o)

So sorry about your pears….that’s awful!

I’m hoping it’s a long time before my next package is lost…or ‘never” would suit me just fine!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Looks like your decorating is complete. Yay. Everything looks lovely. Ours, not at all. But, we do have someone coming out on Wednesday to work on the no heat problem. 🙂
So glad to hear that your second dress has arrived at it’s destination. I sent off a check to a friend a couple of weeks ago, and it still has not arrived. Only going two states away too. Strange mail we have now.
Looking forward to seeing Cindy’s decorating. And I’m sure those attending the Christmas party will enjoy it immensely. Hope you can take some photos. And get in that nap somehow, and not at the party. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
Last year I didn’t do a thing toward decorating so I guess I was making up for it this year. I could do more but it will have to be after our party.
I hope the problem with your heat gets fixed soon…
I made a batch of my famous holiday punch today…it’s in the freezer.
I also baked about 125 chocolate chip cookies and added them to my favor bags.
Tomorrow I will probably go ahead and cook my chicken, then put it in crock pots for the party.
I have to finalize my fames tomorrow too…only 2 more days and I’ll be done…yay!
Thanks Joy…may I share your 2 new cuties?
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I totally understand not having enough hours in the day right now. At the moment I’m commitment free and so hopefully can get my village up and running and the rest of my house decorated. I did my tree shortly after Thanksgiving but the rest has taken awhile because of other things that needed tending to. The park in my village had no lights and I’m not fond of the battery operated lights that come in fours, but I decided to go for it this year and use those Velcro dots to hold them in place. I hadn’t used them in years and when I took them out I discovered I had left the batteries in them, something I never do. Must have been in a hurry that year. So, all four packages ended up in the trash. I went to Wal-Mart looking for more. I found some cute ones that now come in twos. Until I thought of the Velcro dots, they kept falling over like a domino effect. I’m going to install them today and see how they work. Less cumbersome having two to deal with. Now I need to figure out how to hide the battery packs, since there will be more of them, and, instead of being white like my old ones they’re black like the lamp posts.

Wish there was some way you could share your Chocolate Mint Cookie Bark. It looks so good. Guess I’ll have to make my own.

Your angel is so sweet and what a lovely gift. Your wreath is beautiful and you can keep it up all year since it’s not seasonal. I love gifts that are handmade. We’ve gotten so away from the appreciation of hand-made things so much that my daughter-in-law grew up thinking that if you give someone a handmade gift, you’re too cheap to buy them something. The time, effort and love that goes into a handmade item is lost on her. I love making things for my family which she doesn’t understand and often gets a little stubborn when I make clothes for my grandkids or do a wall hanging for their bedrooms. She and I get along famously except for this one point. But last year for my Christmas/Birthday (day after Christmas) gift she and my son did a puzzle for me. It is called “I am the Light”. It has a lighthouse and Jesus’ overlooking the lighthouse showing his hands. It is a thousand pieces and totally amazing. They made it into a picture and framed it for me. It has pride of place above my piano.

So glad the pretty little Navi outfit made it safely to its new home. I think Navi is so adorable and she always looks so cute.

Linda was right in saying that you go above and beyond to get this to us in December. We totally appreciate your time and efforts.

Loved Marilyn’s story about the pears. It reminds me of when my cousin was in the military during Vietnam. My aunt kept trying to send him a cake for his birthday. Each time it reached the location, my cousin had moved somewhere else. Eventually it would catch up with him but it was in really bad shape by that time. They laughed about that for years.

So far all my packages have shown up, so I guess I’d better start unpacking and wrapping or Christmas will be here and I will be rushing to get things done at the last minute. Much done and much still to do.

    1. HI Barbara,
The hours in my days don’t seem like I can possibly get everything finished, but somehow it always seem I do.
Barbara, if you click on my post where I mention Chocolate mint Cookie Bark, it will bring up the post with the recipe for it.
The words in my post are slightly brown looking instead of black…
We’ve done hand made gifts in my family for as long as I can remember. Maybe your daughter in law will come around one of these days! I hope so as hand made gifts generally come from the heart.
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Dear Jeanne, your house is just lovely! I love your sister’s wreath.
Remember how you were saying that you wished you could go to a convention? Well, now you can! A group is sponsoring a virtual doll convention in January. I don’t know if I can put the link in this email. You can do a Google search for it. It’s through Facebook. Unfortunately, I don’t have Facebook. I will have to go and visit a friend who does have Facebook and not leave for a few days (laugh).

    1. A virtual doll convention! Wonderful! I would love the opportunity to attend since I don’t get to any of the other ones.

    2. HI Dorothy,
I’m going to look up that virtual doll convention….surely there is someone who is talking about it …. it sounds like fun…and a LOT cheaper!! :o)
Thanks for that information. If I find it I will share it on here.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I love Hannah’s hairdo! It looks like something for a cosplay costume. I totally understand about the days being full—it’s the busiest time of year for me, and of course, there’s still shopping I need to get done. I have the hardest time shopping for the men in my family, and as usual, I have put that off until the last minute. I’m glad the Navi outfit made it safely, although I’m not sure how a “priority “ shipment could take nine days. I’m sure you’re relieved to know it made it to the buyer. Good luck with the cookie baking. I’m sure your party will be a great success.

    1. Thank you Carolyn,
My sister told,me she used one of those shower scrubbed on the top of Hannah”s hair…that’s what held it up so high…
My shopping is generally the last thing I do and this year is no exception…I have something for my mom and that’s it…so far…
      I need to get busy…
      Thanks Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne
