2017 Holly Dolly Fashion Show!

Hi everyone,
You are in for a real treat today… Normally, I’m the one showcasing my dresses from the past year, but today, there is something really special to see… I asked my readers to share a few of their dolls in their most favorite Christmas dresses… You didn’t disappoint! They are all lovely and I hope you enjoy seeing everyone else’s dolls in their Christmas finery!

I have to thank my daughter, Rebecca, for helping me with this… She even came up with the title… I think I’m rubbing off on her… She wanted to do a fancy presentation, but she was worried that some might not have the Power Point program, so we just decided to present it the way I usually post things. She had everyone’s pictures in a frame like the one you see at the beginning of the slide show… with the ornaments, and it was so pretty! I was imagining putting a Christmas song in the background, but that never was able to materialize. Anyway, I think you’ll enjoy everyone’s pictures. A few ladies sent a few more than two pictures and I was going to enlarge them and figure out which ones to use, but in the end, I just decided you all wouldn’t mind an extra picture or two from someone… So let the “2017 Holly Dolly Fashion Show” begin…

Most all of the photos will enlarge if you click on them…

Ingrid was the first one to submit a picture of some dresses, but she said she was behind in getting her dolls dressed for Christmas, so white dresses would have to do… (I’m sorry for Ingrid’s picture of her girls in the white dresses, being sideways on your phones and ipads… I don’t know why that happened to that particular picture. On my computer it’s right side up and so I decided to keep it that way…)

But a few days ago, she found a Christmas picture to send me… Thanks so much Ingrid… your girls are just lovely…

Charlotte Trayer sent a picture of Heather in a dress that she received from a Christmas Swap back in 2015. I’m pretty sure it was the Ning group swap… Yes, that’s Shadow Embroidery on the front…isn’t it lovely? Heather is also modeling the green dress…

Delaney is her second doll and she’s dressed in a swap outfit that Charlotte received in 2016. It’s an ornament “sweater” from Michael’s that had the back adapted to fit the dolls.

Dorothy King bought an Iplehouse BID (Baby Iplehouse Doll) named Elin, (like mine), but changed her name to Elyse. She’s beautiful, isn’t she?

Dorothy also wanted to share Charlotte Noelle, a Little Darling, by Dianna Effner, that she just received this month!

Linda said her 2 favorite dresses from American Girl were these… shown on Molly and Susan. Molly is in her green velvet dress and Susan has on Addy’s Plaid Tartan dress.

This next picture from Linda features Betsy McCall and Ivy. Betsy is in a darling crocheted dress and Ivy is in American Girl’s Sparkly Plum. They are standing in the bay window, by the small Christmas tree that Linda has in her bedroom.

Moving on, let’s see what Shara has to share…She sent me pictures of 4 girls in red silk smocked dresses… My Meadow 18″ Saffi, 14″ Avery, 11″ Tella and her Little Darling wanted to get in on the modeling too. Beautiful dresses, Shara! (I’m sorry, but Shara’s pictures won’t enlarge.)

Mary C just finished crocheting this outfit for her “unmarked French” head mold-Bleuette friend. It was originally a knitted pattern by LSdS for Bleuette, but since she doesn’t read French, she adapted the pattern and crocheted it! Nicely done, Mary!

Here we have Santa’s helpers from Sissy LIngle. She sent me a picture of Giggi and Patti, who are 10″ BID’s by My Meadow. They are helping Santa and look adorable in their Christmas rompers! Very sweet, Sissy!

Leigh made a matching dress set for her daughter, Melissa, and her doll, back in 1980. The dresses were a red calico print with a white eyelet pinafore on top… How sweet is this picture? Thanks Leigh!

It looks like Joy’s girls are doing some baking… and don’t they look like they’re having fun? I love this little set up Joy! Cute, cute, cute!!!

Kathie sent me these pictures of her 13″ Little Darlings around the Christmas tree. Oh, how beautiful they look!

Paula has some very pretty pictures of her favorite Christmas dresses… Trisha is in a red plaid with a black velvet bodice. (I’m flattered, because I made the two different (but same plaid) dress sets in her pictures.)

Paula’s second picture is of Quintessa in a red plaid dress with a black velvet capelet!

Shara wanted to share a few more pictures of a commissioned dress that she made last year. Eden is modeling a darling dress with a black velvet bodice and a net lace skirt, over taffeta. Just a hint of red in the form of a bow makes it look extra special… Thanks Shara!

Hanna Davis shared something I thought was very sweet. She didn’t have any pictures of Christmas dresses, but she did have one of a pink Easter dress. She went ahead and sent it and said, “We remember the Lord at both times!” How right she is! I loved it, Hanna!

Susette wanted to send along her favorite pictures of her girls in Christmas outfits… There are several dolls in her pictures and they all look so sweet! Look closely at her pictures so you can see everything! Susette said Molly’s apron is reversible and has a Valentines Day pattern on the other side. She’s wearing the American Girl Velvet Green Overalls under that apron. The girls are having a casual Christmas Party after a sleigh ride and snowball fight! The other girls are showing off their Christmas sweaters…she even made the tablecloths too!

April wanted to get in on the picture show and sent along these pictures… She’s waiting on a 2nd hip replacement and said she’s been out of the sewing loop this past year, but these are some of her past creations. I hope you enjoy them…

I hope you enjoyed “today’s presentation!” I did! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What fun to see everyone’s dollies all dressed up for Christmas!! Thanks to everyone who shared!!

  2. What fun to see the variety of dolls and scenes! You could easily have coasted to Christmas and made three posts of these pictures. I can’t begin to comment on each picture and will just thank everyone for sending in the darling pictures, many of dolls I haven’t seen before in their variety of outfits. I will mention Mary C’s knitted outfit, translated from French directions, though. What a feat! And thanks again to Rebecca for helping with the post and not using a program we might not all have. I’ll be looking at this post for a long time to absorb all the details. Thanks, Everyone, and Merry Christmas!

  3. What a Bevy of Christmas delights! Ive looked at them all several times, marveling at each one.
Thanks to Rebecca and you for putting this together:)
This could be an annual event!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!??❄️?❤️

  4. Oh, just loved the slide show!! Everyone did a wonderful job of creation. Each picture was so exciting to view.
All the dolls are just beautiful in their outfits. Thanks to all of you, Jeanne and Rebecca for this great slide show.
Have to comment on April’s little girl resting on the beloved sewing machine. So cute.

  5. What a wonderful thing to see first thing in the morning. I love every one of these. How clever everyone is. I’m going to keep this post and look at it again and again.

  6. WOW!
What a show. So many great ideas and dollies from old to new and big to small. I’m already looking for a mirror for my ice skaters and and a big green bow for Betsy McCall. The displays and photography are professional and amazing.
Thanks everyone for sharing! And a big congrats to Rebecca and Jeanne. Loved seeing this.
    Have a wonderful Christmas.

  7. Shara said just what I was thinking — this could be an annual event. There could even be a midsummer version, as Hanna’s lovely pink dress demonstrates. The whole slide show was just lovely.
April did such a wonderful job of first, making outfits that suit Betsy’s personality, and then photographing them so that the photos show her spirit.
Is Susette’s tablecloth the same fabric as Paula’s dresses? I love that beautiful fabric, and Jeanne used it perfectly. Susette has a fortune in accessories there, all assembled beautifully. The wagon, the puppy — she does such a great job of combining AG items with others of the right size.
Shara’s black and white dress deserves a prize. Kathie’s tree dress is so cute, and that’s the perfect doll for it. Joy takes such great pictures, and her sweater collection must be unbeatable. I still remember the parade of dolls picture she sent.
I hope everyone noticed Charlotte Noelle’s fingernails — Lana does such a great job of painting LD’s, and then she adds that last wonderful touch.
Ingrid gave you a second theme — what a great collection of teddy bears and well as a great doll collection. Dorothy King’s tiny Elyse has her own tiny detailed bears — I love that picture. Charlotte’s Heather has hair like my cousin’s daughter — you can’t believe it exists until you see it, and it is so beautiful. She wears it blonde and straight now, but I have a Samantha LD to remember it by. Susette is right about the variety of dolls — I’ve never seen My Meadow dolls and I’m going to have to look them up. Aren’t computers wonderful — you hear of something or see it and you can nearly always learn more. Except for days like yesterday, when mine was acting up, sending me strange messages, losing my comments to Jeanne, and refusing to let me read my email, let alone answer it.
Leigh’s real, live doll, Melissa, reminds me of some of Jeanne’s pictures of Rebecca. Girls in pretty dresses — it’s rare to see them now, but aren’t they pretty? Maybe that’s why we collect dolls, to have someone to wear all the pretty dresses from all the fashion eras we admire most.
One of my favorite of Jeanne’s Kirsten pictures shows light from a window at night, I think, and the glow of Christmas on her face. Linda’s dolls, with the lights from the trees on their faces, remind me of that picture. So like Christmas.
Susette already commented on Mary C’s impressive crocheted outfit, but the earrings add the perfect French touch — and look at the socks! Details are wonderful things.
What picture would you have put last? I have several choices, but my final choice, at least for now, is the photo from Sissy of her My Meadow Santa’s helpers. I’ve never been crazy about jointed dolls, but those faces just require flexible posing. My Meadow should buy that picture for their advertising.
My Christmas is working on being white. The snow should end by noon, but anyone who knows Colorado weather knows that predicting it is a foolish hobby.
This is too long, but what a great collection of photos, Jeanne.

  8. We sure did get a TREAT today, Jeanne! I loved seeing all the darling dolls in all their Christmas glory, and the one Easter picture too! They all are special in their own way, and I can’t get over how many readers of your blog have LD dolls! Talk about lucky!

Is that a Sonja Henie doll that April has displayed in the skating outfit? If so, I had one almost like that, but with a different outfit. How I loved that doll! And her little Betsy McCall is darling in that outfit, plus the little doll laying on the sewing machine!

Goodness, Susette takes the cake when it is setting up a Christmas party scene! She knows how to gather the right everything for a darling scene! Love those darling punch bowls!

Shana’s Caroline looks absolutely heavenly in that adorable pink creation! I love the little sheep too!

Shara MADE that beautiful dress for someone else? That is gorgeous with the delicate lace overskirt! I don’t think I could ever part with that dress if I had made it!

Paula’s red plaid dresses are among my favorite! Of course, they are Jeanne Marie Originals and so festive looking for the holidays! Love that black, fur trimmed cape!

Kathie’s sweet Little Darlings are just that—–darling! I love the Christmas tree outfit, so clever!
I am running out of time here, will come back later and finish commenting!

  9. Dear Jeanne, Thank you for being a playwright and producer and allowing our dolls to take the stage! It was so much fun to see the diversity in dolls.
I especially loved the little dolly falling asleep on the sewing machine!
What a wonderful way to end this year and begin 2018!

  10. I’m back still in awe of the adorable dolls in the Holly Dolly Fashion show! Such a fun time today to see these adorable dolls! Ingrid’s dolls and teddy bears make a cute scene together. Is that Jeanne Marie dress I see, in green with the lace? And I love smocking on dresses, so the red one jumps out at me. Lovely!

Charlotte Trayor’s heather has hair to die for! I’m not familiar with shadow embroidery, but it makes a lovely dress! And Delaney’s sweater is almost like one that my Betsy wears, which was also an ornament that I bought from Michael’s.

Dorothy King has such a sweet pair of dolls, so different and the newest doll has such a perfect little face! Elise is perfectly matched to the antique stroller. What a find!

Shara’s dolls look so winsome in their matching Christmas dresses! What kind of a doll is the one in the second picture? She looks like a real little girl!

Mary C.s crocheted dress turned out beautiful! I wish I had a talent like that, and crocheted dresses are among my favorite!

Sissy Lingle’s picture looks like it was a professional ad for a children’s book! Darling dolls that make you want to smile!

Leigh’s daughter’s dress with the matching doll dress is so cute, and reminds me of the one I made for my daughter for Christmas in the late 70’s. Those were the days!

Joy’s little dolls are so cute! She did a great job of making a scene that was so believable and real looking! Are those marshmallows cotton balls? I just love all the little details !

I think I have commented on everyone’s pictures, because I really enjoyed seeing them, and hope to see more in the year ahead. I just love sharing these cute little creatures that give us so much happiness!

And a big THANK YOU to Jeanne and Rebecca, without them there would be no fashion show!!

    1. Linda:
The second doll in my photos is My Meadow ‘s
“Saffi”. She is an 18” articulated resin sweetheart, and looks very much like a real little girl:)

    2. Hi Linda,
What a good eye you have! Yes I was lucky enough to win one of the three dresses Jeanne made last year. I’m totally in love with little smocked dresses! Thank you for the sweet compliments.

    1. Oh, Carolyn,
I don’t recall receiving any from you…can you resend them to me? I’ll add them in…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Hi everyone,
Thank you, everyone, for making The 2017 Holly Dolly Fashion Show so wonderful! I just loved seeing what you all have been up to this past year and beyond…
It’s fun having all the dresses in one post, isn’t it? You can just look and look and look and still see something new everytime!!
Thank you so much for participating….and keep a look out for Carolyn’s pics. Apparently, her pictures never made it to me, but I told her to resend them and I’d add them to the Fashion Show!
    Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Oh my gosh what a delight!! So much talent. Thank you Jeanne & Rebecca for taking the time to post all these beautiful pictures. I will definitely be re-reading this post over & over.
Merry Christmas and Blessings to everyone

  13. Hi Jeanne,
What a fun dolly fashion show. Thanks to you and Rebecca for your time, this must have taken some time to put together. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the photo’s.
I really admire people that can knit. I love knitted items… I’m trying to teach myself but it’s not as easy as I thought it would be. Susette’s sweaters are so sweet and those sweaters on Joys little girls are just too cute!
April I love that photo of your doll resting on your sewing machine. Adorable!
I hope your surgery goes well and that you feel better real soon.
Jeanne I didn’t comment on yesterdays post as I read it so very late, I decided to tell you today. What I love about your blog most is you and your giving nature. Everything from your sewing tutorials to the recipes you love, to the sweet things you do for your family and church family. It’s truly been a blessing getting to know you through your writings.
Hope you had a great Thursday!
    Hugs
    Ingrid
